13 New Hotels Approved in December 2018

Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has approved the development of 13 new hotel investments worth 54.7 million USD dollars in December 2018.

The most number of projects will be set to take place in the Galle region, with the largest in Trincomalee with 50 rooms. The other 12 projects are comparatively smaller operations with less than 49 rooms each. Another 11 new hotels offering 247 rooms worth 14.8 million US dollars started operations during the last quarter of 2018.

According to the SLTDA, the total number of registered rooms in Sri Lanka which includes: hotels, bungalows, guest houses, homestays and rentals has increased to 38,214 from 36,693 in September 2018.
